With advances in audio technologies we have become acustomed to high quality stereo music on CD. Multichannel audio such as surround sound is a reality, but it has not become widespread in the home yet. Advances in technology are bringing better quality sound to PCs, although they are still plagued by a plethora of incompatible standards. By and large, however, not enough attention is paid to the quality of sound around us and the importance of the role it plays in our lives. |
